> global youth program Global Youth is a program of Video Machete that creates a forum for youth from diverse immigrant backgrounds to explore and express the way that their families, communities and themselves as individuals are affected by shifts in the global economy and culture. Global Youth assists participants in creating their own personal histories of everyday experiences of immigration, racism and trans-cultural community building through the production of alternative digital media for distribution and broadcast at local public schools. Young people explore topics of immigration, their history and the worlds within their community. (more) |

> JUST MEDIA program In our continuing quest for collective praxis (thought + action), Video Machete's JUST MEDIA Program conducts intensive and advanced collaborative projects that merge multi-level training in multi-media design and video production with critical examinations of new and emerging social issues. JUST MEDIA is a guild inspired program that works with youth and their communities for social integration of media and popular education stratgies that seek to combine practice with crictical analysis. Both youth and adult participants conitnue to work closely with Video Machete community allies in various human rights campaigns. (more) |

> somos media fest Video Machete announces it's independent SOMOS MEDIA FEST is a gathering of works that bring together the creative energy of artists, filmmakers, educators, performers, activists and community members. Join us for a week of storytelling through film screenings, audio installations and artworks, hands on workshops, and performances. SOMOS media fest is an initiative that is borne from the need of artists, mediamakers, educators and especially youth to exhibit and produce self authored cultural work that not only exposes the real stories of our communiites, but also defines the role we all play as social actors and our responsibilties of civic engagement in our socities. SOMOS fest includes onsite multimedia installations, international artist exchanges and seminars, and public forums, indigenous and urban cultural workshops from martial arts to breakdancing. > Cine Popular Join us starting August (Dates to be announced) at various sites throughout the community for critical viewings of social and political films from around the world. Films begin at 7pm where a discussion will follow. Previous screenings included State of Siege, Burn, Bullets Echoes, Battle of Algiers, WW4, Control Room, and Night of the Living Dead. (more) |
